Recent reports in the UK media that country-wide power cuts would be imposed if a giant liquid natural gas (LNG) tanker did not dock at Milford Haven in Wales within one and a half days may have been scaremongering. But the reports did serve to highlight a grave weakness in the UK's resilience as a consequence of negligence on the part of government over several years.
