Fortum has announced that the Nordic's biggest battery to date will be installed at the firm's Forshuvud hydropower plant located on the Dalaelven in Sweden. The €3 million battery system's output is 5MW and the storage capacity is 6.2MWh. "Batteries are thought to be used mostly to store energy. Now, however, we will try connecting a battery to a hydropower plant with the idea of improving the plant's ability to function as regulating power for the Nordic electricity network," said Martin Lindstroem, Head of Asset Management Hydro at Fortum.
