Less freight in Bavaria

The inland ports in the southern German state of Bavaria handled less goods in the first half of 2015 than in the same period last year. Their throughput declined by 17% to 3.44 million t. The strongest performers on the Danube were the ports of Regensburg and Straubing. On the river Main, Aschaffenburg and Lengfurt handled most goods. The main types of cargo transported on Bavaria's inland waterways included agricultural and forest products, ores, stones and soils.
