Special Issue on Uncovering Violence as Technology-Mediated in Contemporary Societies

摘要

This issue of the International Journal of Technoethics (IJT) focuses on the relationship between technology and violence. Technology is not neutral: it embeds - more or less tacitly - aspirations, values, expectations, but also prejudices, preconceptions, biases, which are not necessarily designed or built-in, but emerge as side effects or unexpected consequences in cultural practice. In this sense, technology is intrinsically intertwined with violence as a rounded concept encompassing a great variety of circumstances and situations, and thus not limited and exhausted by any particular domain, discipline or topic.
