摘要

Private concentration of power undoubtedly affects online information flows. The consequences influence everyday life on a massive scale. Therefore, regulation of private online power has become one of the most vexing regulatory issues of our time. In her doctoral thesis, Angela Daly elaborates on how to deal with existing concentrations of private power regarding information flows on the Internet. She reflects on this issue from an overarching legal perspective: focusing on the European Union (EU) regulatory framework, Daly discusses the effectiveness of competition law, sector specific regulation, and in particular, the laws of data protection and human rights. Her work adds to the discourse in competition law as well as to the general discussion of the relationship between Internet, power and freedom.
