Management systems, systems analysis and risk analysis in dam safety

The International Commission on Large Dams, at its Annual Meeting in Lucerne, approved a new Bulletin: Dam Safety Management: Operation Phase of Life Cycle [2011'J, prepared by the Committee on Dam Safety . This Bulletin is devoted primarily to the development and the implementation of a dam safety management system for dams in the operation phase of the life cycle. The Bulletin goes beyond the traditional technical realm of 1COLD Bulletins by providing considerable principles-based guidance on governance and management arrangements, to enable the effective implementation of safety management processes and safety engineering by dam owners. The Bulletin builds on the principles established by ICOLD in Bulletins 59 (Dam Safety), 61 (Dam Design Criteria), and 130 (Risk Assessment in Dam Safety Management).
