It is argued, with reference to three case studies from the field of information engineering, that the history of technology has significant pedagogical potential for engineering education. Appropriate historical elements can give students a vital broader perspective, as well as improve the attractiveness of technology as a subject of study.%Cet article démontre, en se référant à trois cas de figure issus du domaine de l'ingénierie de l'information, que l'histoire de la technologie a un impact pédagogique significatif sur la formation de l'ingénieur. Les éléments historiques appropriés peuvent donner aux étudiants une perspective vitale plus large et aussi accroitre l'attractivité de la technologie comme sujet d'étude.
