I suspect that our town planners will not like this book. The first part critically analyses the development of planning showing how improved transport encouraged flight from the city. UK planning tends to be well intentioned but often leads to unintended failures. The reasons for failure could be poor interpretation, missing management, unsuitable transport or scant maintenance. Everyone in Britain should read this section.
