DMO opens 2020-21 programme with bravado record-breaker

The UK DEBT MANAGEMENT OFFICE opened its expanded 2020-2021 syndication programme in style with a £12bn 10-year Gilt issue that ranks as the second-largest single-tranche sovereign syndication ever and is the largest sterling syndication of all time. Like other sovereigns across the globe, the UK DMO is having to tackle a huge increase in its funding needs. The trade emerged at much the same time as Australia's largest issuance ever - a A$ 19bn deal that attracted a record-busting A$53.5bn of orders.
