摘要

Brussels—European insurers issued a report Jan. 26 warning that divergent approaches taken by EU countries to implement the EU Environmental Liability Directive (ELD) will hamper the development of new insurance products covering ecological damage.rnIn the report, the European Insurance and Reinsurance Federation urged states transposing the ELD into national law not to go beyond the scope of the Directive.rnDoing so could pose challenges to industry because of "exposure to different regimes which may have significant consequences on final costs for operators and their financial risk-takers," the report says.
