UN Reports Progress on 'Building Blocks'For Accelerating Shift to Green Economy

More than a year of discussions on ramping up efforts to force a shift in capital toward green economic development wrapped up in Incheon, South Korea, Sept. 12 with technical progress on what the United Nations' top climate change official called creating " the right conditions" for such changes. The three days of talks capped a series of small group and virtual meetings on the topic among U.N. officials, government representatives, officials from financial institutions and other private sector groups, academics, and advocacy groups. The talks focused on technical and preparatory aspects of scaling up financing for poor countries from a low current level to at least $100 billion per year by 2020, along with other sources of cash.
