摘要

Believing that the digital economy would revolutionize the way commerce has been conducted, the Singapore government has, since the early 1990s, sought to transform the country into an international e-commerce hub, and a viable node on the global information superhighway network. For it, e-commerce represents not just yet another alternative to established business practices; rather, it heralds the way for future ones. Building an information infrastructure that would support the delivery of information, products/services, or payment via computer networks and that would lead to the automation of business transaction and workflows thus becomes a top economic priority.
