If The 'Creative Economy' seems like a late addition to the 'Cool Britannia' bookshelf, it would now be remaindered, or stashed in the Millennium Dome awaiting a buyer. Thankfully, it steers clear of some of the more superficial aspects of 'creative Britain', which now seem as dated as the Blur/Oasis war of words, instead asking some fundamental questions. Defining creativity seems to be a central theme (rather than creative accounting, which classes estate agents and the like as 'creatives'). Secondly, from the dust jacket design onwards, it's obvious that copyright preoccupies John Howkins.
