Decades ago, the French playwright Francois Billetdoux predicted technology would facilitate the rise of group-to group-interaction as opposed to merely one-to-one. The prediction - given the rise of the Internet - was prophetic. But the Internet does a lot more too. "[It] keeps extending its power in successive, powerful waves on every component of world structure" says Professor George Brocke of City University in London, "but the components adapt themselves to that new power."
