After last year's Rome conference the IIC's Italian Chapter Produced a report which examined cultural diversity in the Contest of globalisation. This extract looks at the role of demand In the information society. The ICT sectors are still mainly shaped by the economic actors responsible for equipment, infrastructure and service provision, and by the institutions governing and regulating their business. Demand for services related or generated by these Technologies has to be considered not only in quantitative Terms, but as an expression of cultural, industrial, Institutional diversity and also as one of the drivers of Independent cultural, economic and social values.
