Venture capital has been significant in the development of information technology and multimedia based companies around the world due to their ability to provide finance where traditional banking institutions fear to tread. Banks have shunned such investments either due to conservative investment policies or banking regulations that curtail investments into early stage growth companies with insufficient asset backing.
