Franco Morganti passed away on Saturday 12 September at the age of 89. One of the most brilliant minds in Italian high-tech, he contributed with his works and activities to keeping Italy in step with the epochal changes that have marked the world of telecommunications in the last 50 years. He founded companies, held top level positions in the most important Italian corporations (Stet, Enel, Wind) and worked also as a consultant with national governments. More recently he contributed to the Italian newspaper, Corriere della Sera. Throughout his life he showed a strong civil commitment by actively engaging in politics. In all the fields in which he has operated he threw all his energy into his endeavours, always with great results.
