While the main title of this book suffers somewhat from imprecision, the subtitle tells the reader exactly what the work is about, namely one of the central issues of the domestic interior. The overall impression of the book is that of an authoritative and concise coverage, selecting from an uncountable number of books for both North America and Britain, whereby no principal distinctions between the countries are being made. As regards the illustrations, one may try to find them in color on the Internet, but even so, their assemblage here is of great value.
