Rafael Moneo, Architect & Designer

In his native Spain, and throughout the world, Rafael Moneo is known for his achievements as architect of projects such as the Modern Art Museum in Stockholm, Our Lady of Los Angeles Cathedral, the remodelling of Madrid's Atocha station and the Thyssen Gallery. Far fewer people however, are aware of his work as a furniture designer, though Moneo has actually been designing since the 1960's and, even before he constructed his first building, had already designed several furniture pieces. In fact today, the 67-year old architect admits that chair-design remains one of his greatest challenges.
