Born in Toledo, 42 years ago, Tomas Alia has rapidly emerged as Spain's new design guru and the creative force behind Madrid's most innovative nightclubs, such as Bar Bangaloo, and hotels like the Nuevo Madrid and the Hotel Quo Puerta del Sol; as well as many restaurants. In addition to high-profile commercial ventures, Alia is sought by a discerning private clientele. Alia has also attracted attention beyond the Iberian peninsular, and in 2000 was awarded Spain's National Prize for Architecture, while in 2006 'El Mundo' included him in their list of the top 500 most influential personalities. 'The Louis Vuitton Guide' ranked him Best Designer of the Year three times, and further plaudits have come from 'Il Corriere Delia Sera', which has described him as "the nightlife architect you must have to be hip."
