While research, innovation, technology, style and design remain a priority for Italian textile producers in order to maintain a competitive edge against low-cost manufacturing countries, Italian textile associations Federazione Industriali Tessilivari and Consorzio Tendaggio Italiano are increasingly focusing their efforts on the promotion of a mandatory label of origin on goods and, in particular, of a reference that will trace all production steps from manufacture to dyeing and finishing.
