There seems to be little doubt about the size of the market that is opening up for the manufacturers of high-thrust engines over the next couple of decades. Over the period extending to 2025, Rolls-Royce is forecasting the delivery of 19,000 engines in the thrust range over 45,000lb (200kN), including 10,000 very large engines with thrust ratings greater than 75,000lb (330kN) - a total market estimated at $193 billion (?145 billion).
