摘要

Directly following the September 11, 2001, attacks on the World Trade Center "buildings in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., members of the administration of US President George W. Bush moved to access data about telephone calls, financial transactions and a variety of other records. The full extent of these surveillance activities is still not known, despite the fact that this nation's major newspapers (e.g., the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, the Wall Street Journal, et al) have all run various stories describing some of these administration actions.
