Carnegie Mellon U (CMU) regained its crown as the leader in autonomous driving technologies as its "Boss" system, instantiated in a Chevrolet Tahoe sport utility vehicle (SUV) from General Motors, won the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency's Grand Urban Challenge, the third race in the series. CMU's Tartan Racing Team came in first, while Stanford U's "Junior" system, based on a Volkswagen Passat station wagon, came in second.
