Editorial Insights and Implications: What If the Internet Subsumed All Media?

As I perused the large FCC National Broadband Plan, I kept seeing the endgame proposed in the document, this vision: the Internet as the one, ubiquitous media for the US and, perhaps, later or sooner, the entire planet. Now, media presenting books, movies, recorded music, television and other communications and entertainment are safely ensconced in their own silos or cocoons. But, eventually, the pervasive net, like that envisioned by the FCC broadband plan, threatens to consume these distinctions and separations.
