Editorial Insights and Implications: Ono Billion Smartphones But Still No Net for All

As I began writing in this space in our May, 2012 anniversary issue of INTELLIGENCE, I'm dedicated to seeing a time, soon, when there will be net access for everyone, everywhere, all the time. Until then, I'll keeping calling attention to its lack by noting, in each issue's EDITORIAL: "Still no net for all." As smartphones continue to spread and proliferate across the entire planet, the goal of achieving net for all draws closer. Smartphones, that is: mobile telephones that are computer based and can provide access to the Internet, are the instrument of choice that much of humanity use to get on the net, often the only instrument available that is capable of providing net access.
