Ernest Shannon: the man behind the intelligent pig

The April 1997 issue of INSIGHT reported that Professor Ernest Shannon had been appointed to the Board of ERA Technology as Executive Director with special responsibility for the direction of Plant Engineering Services. Professor Shannon will be known to many INSIGHT readers as a pioneer in the development of the pipeline on-line inspection system, or 'intelligent pig'. David Gilbert visited ERA Technology to chat with the Professor, who has been a Fellow of BInstNDT for more than ten years.
