In this paper, a preliminary investigation of the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) technique for non-destructive evaluation of concrete and wood is made. Basic principles of NMR are discussed. Samples of concrete and wood were tested using NMR. In these tests, the hydration process in concrete and the moisture content of wood samples were monitored. In addition, standard destructive testing of these materials was conducted to determine their failure strengths. The results of destructive tests were compared with those of NMR testings. Good correlation was observed between the results of nondestructive NMR and standard destructive tests.
