Condition monitoring - a giant awakes, but be warned!

This article is a warning for those using (or about to use) a commercial training provider for condition monitoring (CM) personnel. However, before we discuss the warning, let us review just what CM is and where it came from. NDT was first to develop and establish engineering testing specifications, codes and standards, especially in safety-critical sectors. While traditional NDT methods dominated, the early developments of acoustic emission (AE) and infrared thermography (IRT) began to gain acceptance, particularly in the military sector.
