Digital X-ray technology provides insights to prehistoric life

The Leonardo Dinosaur Project, previously reported in Insight - Vol 49 No 1, January 2007 - involving the digital X-ray analysis by Carestream Health (formerly Kodak) of a 77 million-year-old mummified dinosaur named Leonardo, is progressing and in the next step Leonardo's remains are to undergo a customised dinosaur proportion scan process to imitate a CT scan using the flexible imaging capabilities of the Kodak Industrex digital system.rnNDT field-testing of Leonardo was completed at JRDI in Montana by enlisting the help of Carestream Health's NDT imaging experts. The team set up a digital mini-radiography lab in a remote field station. Using the Kodak Industrex ACR 2000i Digital System, they produced 40 radiographic images of Leonardo's head, portions of his skeleton, and abdomen.
