Visit to Coleg Gwent, City of Newport Campus

The South Wales Branch convened for its November meeting at City of Newport Campus for a presentation and tour of the college's welder training, vehicle repair and hybrid vehicle maintenance facilities. The evening started with an overview of the college by Gary Handley, College Director. He explained that the college has grown by 29% in the last three years and now caters for 5000+ students and apprentices, supporting many local schools and businesses. Aled Jones, from a local company, also gave an insight into how the college has helped his business by providing skilled welding apprentices.
