It is my great pleasure to introduce the first issue of Insight of 2017 and my first as the new President of the British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing. I wish you all a Happy New Year. During the last year under the presidency of Professor Robert Smith, much has been achieved at BINDT. One of the most exciting achievements was the move to our new long-term home at Midsummer House, Riverside Way, Bedford Road, Northampton. It is also great that there are now more ways for people to become engaged within our industry and with the Institute. These include: apprenticeship schemes in NDT; more inclusive routes to membership, including a non-technical route; Engineering Council registration; PCN; a Practitioner Committee; new technology user groups; publications and social media channels; and, of course, our conferences and events. BINDT is also recognised for its contribution to the Royal Academy of Engineering and Engineering Council initiatives and for our continued support to the European and worldwide NDT and CM organisations.
