AFSPC eyes new joint SATCOM environment as part of enterprise strategy

The Air Force wants to establish a joint information operations center to help the space community better manage satellite communications resources as part of a broader enterprise SATCOM strategy that is set to be released later this year. Damon Feltman, chief of Air Force Space Command's global effects division, told Inside Defense April 10 that as the command plans for a new approach to managing SATCOM across the enterprise, it is looking at ways to better manage command and control communications satellites. The strategy is still being developed, but he expects one of the tangible outcomes will be the establishment of a joint SATCOM C2 environment.
