Navy official: AMDR 'successfully performed' in 14 ballistic missile tests

A Navy official on Jan. 16 touted testing of the Navy's new Air and Missile Defense Radar program, noting the radar "successfully performed" during 14 ballistic missile tests. "The testing has gone very well," Capt. Casey Moton, the program manager for the Arleigh Burke-class destroyer (DDG-51), told reporters at the annual Surface Navy Symposium. Another test will take place in several weeks. The radar, built by Raytheon, is often referred to as SPY-6, and will be outfitted on the DDG-51 Flight Ⅲ, the Navy's newest destroyer that is slated for its first delivery in fiscal year 2023.
