GAO: F-35 spare parts management inhibiting warfighter requirements

A new Government Accountability Office report claims that the F-35 program's faulty planning and allocation of spare parts has contributed to an inability to meet warfighter requirements, and offers eight recommendations to improve the program's supply chain management. "F-35 aircraft performance is not meeting warfighter requirements," the April 25 report states. "While DOD is taking various actions to improve F-35 spare parts availability so that aircraft can fly and perform their missions, it will likely continue to struggle to meet warfighter requirements due to how it is planning for and allocating spare parts."
