The eyes naturally read left to right. For this reason, we start with the text on the upper-left corner. Then, we move over to the right. Next, we scan back over to the left to finish reading the text and, because it's a cute photo of an animal, we're drawn back to the lion. If you retrace the steps your eyes just took, you'll realize that the pattern in which your eyes scan the layout is a Z shape.
