When finished with one font, the designer will go on to add additional fonts. He'll follow his rules, but will change one variable. If he widens the width of the font, it becomes an extended font. If he makes it narrower, it becomes a condensed font. If he thickens the strokes, it becomes a bold font; and if he thins the strokes, it becomes a light font. Exactly how many font variations he'll make is up to him.
