An undisclosed number of cyber attacks at gas pipeline companiesnwas the main subject of a classified briefing Monday bynDEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY officials to SenatenHomeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee staff.nThe briefing was scheduled before the DHS Industrial ControlnSystems Cyber Emergency Response Team released its “MonthlynMonitor” for April in which it described the attacks generally,nsaid Leslie Phillips, spokeswoman for the committee. The newsn“over the weekend that there have been several intrusions atnpipeline companies dominated the briefing,” Phillips said. “InnMarch, ICS-CERT identified an active series of cyber intrusionsntargeting natural gas pipeline sector companies,” the DHS reportnfor April said.
