Regency plans major expansion of system to move increased Haynesville Shale output

A $1.1 billion expansion of the Regency Intrastate Gas System in northern Louisiana should provide approximately 1.45 Bcf/d of new capacity to move gas produced from the Haynesville Shale to market areas, owner Regency Energy Partners said Tuesday.rnRIGS, which currently has capacity of 910,000 Mcf/d, covers 320 miles running from Caddo Parish to Franklin Parish. The two-phase expansion, subject to customary regulatory approvals, will loop the existing pipeline, extend the system southwest into Desoto Parish and add new compression.rnThe first phase, set for completion in the first half of next year, will add 300,000 Mcf/d of capacity once fully operational at a cost of about $375 million. The second phase, targeted for completion by the end of 2009 and fully operational in early 2010, will add an incremental 1.15 Bcf/d.rnIn total, the expansion will add 204 miles of pipeline ranging in diameter from 24 inches to 42 inches, as well as 49,000 horsepower of compression, Regency said.
