The commission last week approved a settlement providing a 180 MW wind project with interim balancing authority until Midwest Independent Transmission System Operator takes over the job. MISO intends to become the single balancing authority for its footprint as part of the June 1 launch of an ancillary services market.rnUnder the settlement, Northern States Power initially will serve as the balancing authority for Tatanka Wind Power's project in North Dakota and South Dakota. A market interface integration services agreement between the two will terminate on the earlier of the date on which MISO begins providing thernservices or December 31, 2009.
