With interconnection requests up 50% so far this year, after a 62% increase in 2007, Midwest Independent Transmission System Operator wants to create a "fast lane" in its queue for projects that have made significant progress. There is currently about 83,000 MW of planned generation in MISO's queue, and officials have repeatedly noted it would take years to move it all through under the current first-come, first-served approach.rn"We have to update the administrative procedure by which new generation plants and transmission lines are studied, approved and built," said MISO Vice President of Transmission Asset Management Clair Moeller in a statement on the June 26 filing (ER08-1169).
