In lead up to EPA’s mercury rule reveal,parties mull FERC’s role in reliability impacts

With the Environmental Protection Agency expected to nissue a rule on mercury and air toxics standards late Friday, nutilities and other energy industry groups used their follow-nup comments on a FERC technical conference to reiterate nbeliefs that EPA should consider allowing case-by-case exten-nsions for complying with the rules in the name of preserv-ning grid reliability. Many of the comments also focused on nFERC’s role in helping the industry manage this particular nreliability issue.
