FERC eyes tighter oversight of NERC’s risk-based approach to reliability monitoring, enforcement

FERC last week accepted North American Electric ReliabilityrnCorp.’s proposal to better define and evaluate its initiative torntake a risk-based approach to enforcing mandatory electric reliabilityrnstandards.rnThe commission, however, directed that an additional compliancernfiling be made within 120 days to address elements ofrnthe program and its oversight that were still lacking. FERC alsornspecified the type of information it wanted to see in NERC’srnannual report on the program’s implementation.
