PHMSA grants gas industry request for more time on giant gas pipeline safety rule

The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration is extendingrnthe comment period for its proposed gas transmission safety rule by 30rndays, responding to a wide swath of gas industry stakeholders whornasked for more time to review the 549-page regulation.rnThe proposal, made public March 17, would expand the scope ofrngas pipeline rules to cover 70,000 miles of line not currentlyrnregulated, and extend reporting requirements to 300,000 miles ofrngathering lines.
