ITC petition on transmission rates dismissed but FERC to convene technical conference

FERC on Thursday said that a petition for declaratory order was not thernright vehicle for ITC Holdings’ request for clarity on ratemaking forrntransmission projects in competitive solicitations, and dismissed thernpetition without consideration of the merits.rnThe commission, however, acknowledged that “ITC’s petitionrnhighlights important policy issues related to the potential benefits ofrncost containment proposals in the context of competitive transmissionrndevelopment.” FERC said it would explore these issues at a technicalrnconference planned for June.rnDaniel Oginsky, executive vice president of ITC’s US regulated gridrndevelopment, told Platts Thursday that the company was “pleased tornsee that [FERC] recognized the importance of the issues we raise andrnbelieve that it deserves further attention.”
