Report says quorum loss did not slow enforcement work; litigation activity on the rise

Not deterred by FERC’s six-month lapse of a quorum, enforcement staff opened 27 new investigations and completed 11 audits in FY-17, all while dealing with an uptick in litigation activities before several federal district courts, according to the commission’s annual enforcement report. The lack of a quorum had “minimal impact” on the Office of Enforcement’s “ongoing investigative, audit, surveillance and market oversight responsibilities,” OE staffer Maxwell Multer said during a presentation of the report at the commission’s November 16 open monthly meeting.
