FERC conference on GHG mitigation from gas facilities to focus on compliance, costs

Federal Energy Regulatory Commission staff will discuss the appropriate level of mitigation for greenhouse gas emissions stemming from proposed facilities during its upcoming technical conference. FERC staff will hold the technical conference Nov. 19 to examine ways to mitigate the impact of greenhouse gas emissions from natural gas projects. The livestreamed event will examine ways natural gas companies can limit the effects of direct and indirect GHG emissions from Section 3 and Section 7 authorizations under the Natural Gas Act, according to an Oct. 4 commission announcement. Section 3 authorizations pertain to the siting and construction of LNG import and export facilities, while the commission issues section 7 authorizations for interstate gas pipeline projects it deems to be a matter of public convenience and necessity.
