Changing policy climate prompts stop-gap, long-range midstream gas adaptations

Natural gas pipeline company executives described both stopgap steps to help keep infrastructure projects afloat in a challenging Northeast US permitting environment, alongside growing efforts to adapt their businesses to a lower carbon energy future. Speaking at the LDC Northeast Gas Forum July 20, Dean Holden, business development manager for Chesapeake Utilities, acknowledged longer permitting timelines and opposition to projects in some quarters, but said the company has recently used virtual pipeline capabilities enabled by affiliate Marlin Gas Services to help bridge the gap.
