The electric utility sector is warning the Federal Energy RegulatoryCommission against overreacting to an executive order from outgoingPresident Donald Trump aimed at fortifying the nation’s bulk powersystem against foreign adversaries.Signed by Trump in May, the order prevents federal agencies andUS persons from acquiring, transferring or installing bulk powersystem equipment that might pose an “unacceptable risk “ to nationalsecurity or public safety. Specifically, the order included a definitionthat encompasses a range of electrical equipment commonly used insubstations, electric generators and control rooms.
