Public Citizen files complaint at FERC over reporting of CenterPoint equity deal

CenterPoint Energy failed to report a change in status for one of its utility subsidiaries with market-based rate authority following a $1.35 billion equity capital injection from an Elliott Management affiliate-led investors group, consumer advocates argued Oct. 5. The equity deal, which was dependent on management and control changes at CenterPoint, should therefore have been noticed to FERC, and the commission should classify Elliot Management as an affiliate of CenterPoint, according to Public Citizen and the Citizens Action Coalition, an Indiana advocacy group, in a complaint filed with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (EL21-2).
